Set # 853570 Review - Police Accessory Set

I made a quick run to the Lego Certified Store last week and I stumbled upon this simple accessory set, which had several pieces I wanted to use for my future MOCs. Set # 853570 offers four Lego City minifigs and several accessories.  Unlike other Lego sets, it comes with a card packaging.

Similar to other police-themed starter sets, this kit has two (2) cops and two (2) crooks. The prints on the figs are new and are similar to the ones included in the Prison Island set (Set 60130). Each fig comes with its own head print and headgear or wig. I really love the new tactical vest torso on one of the cops as well as the new faces on the prisoners.

For a set with a PHP1,100.00 (USD 24.00) price tag, this kit has more accessories but no bricks, as compared to the other starter sets which are surprisingly more cheaper and are sold at only around PHP800.00 (USD17.00). It makes me wonder why a set with more accessories is more expensive than one with more bricks. I'm guessing it's probably cheaper to manufacture bricks than accessories but I could be wrong.

The cops' accessories include a gun, a megaphone, a radio (which I observe has a new mold) and a pair of handcuffs.

The prisoner's accessories include a ball and chain,  a knapsack, printed money tiles, sticks of dynamite and a red crowbar.

If you're just after the figs and accessories and don't mind paying extra, then I recommend getting this set. The figs look nice and the head pieces and accessories can be re-used for a variety of purposes. On the other hand, if you want to get most out of your money, then it's better to buy the other starter sets. These also come with four figs and accessories but have more bricks for building vehicles and set pieces. More importantly, these are cheaper.

There you have it, folks! My first set review. Hope you find it useful and interesting. I'll be doing more of these in the future so stay tuned! Weekend's here again. Have a good one! Till next post!
