A couple of weeks ago, the Waifu and I were chatting about the opening of another Lego Certified Store (LCS) at Trinoma. We were just talking about how excited we were of checking out the new store and already planned to do so as soon as our busy schedules allowed it. Little did we know, we would be getting invites to the opening of the third LCS in the Philippines, which is also the first one in the North. We were really looking forward to this LCS since out of all the three, this one's the most convenient for us in terms of location since it's just a train ride away from where we live.
I was really giddy when Ava told me about the invite since it will be my first official event with Lego. For someone who's been writing about my passion for bricks for several months now, I feel like I've hit a milestone. Awesome feeling it was! And yeap, I wore Ava's press badge with pride, folks! Anyway, enough about me. On with the show!
Before the LCS' opening, guests were treated to a short program at Trinoma's Rooftop Park. It's really cool how the venue was surrounded by these awesome Lego minifig standees.
There's also a play area for the kids!
The program kicked off with a short prayer led by LCS' business unit head, Ms. Sharlene Tsai. It was then followed by a brief and insightful opening remark by Mr. Patrick Pesengco, the head of LAJ Marketing, Lego's exclusive distributor here in the Philippines.
Lego will be partnering with UNICEF Philippines to help build the first National Centre for Children with Disabilities at the Philippine General Hospital. For the month of November, a portion of the sales of LCSs nationwide will be donated to UNICEF Philippines' noble cause. Lego will also be donating PHP500,000.00 (approx. USD10,000.00) to the fundraising drive that aims to raise a total of PHP10 Million for the Centre's construction.
With the help of Kai from Ninjago and some KFOLs, the launch ceremony ended with a mini ribbon cutting ceremony of the minifig-scale LCS MOC.
After the launch, the guests were then led to the LCS located at Trinoma's Level 1 Mindanao Wing for the store's actual opening ceremony. We were greeted by Nexo Knight's Clay at the store's entrance. How cool is that?!
Now we get to see the store for the first time! The joint was literally packed with Lego fans of all ages. It was really hard to go around and take some pictures but I still tried to take several shots of the place.
Here's a look at this LCS' Pick-A-Brick wall and the minifig bins. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go near the Build-A-Minifig area.
You know what really made me giddy that day? It's this big 'ol box right here. Fell in love with it the first time I laid my eyes on it.
November's not yet over so you still have time to catch the following deals to support Lego and UNICEF Philippines' campaign:
The Waifu and I really had fun at the opening of LCS Trinoma. Click here to check out Ava's blog entry as well. Thanks to the people behind LCS for having us! By the way, you just made this AFOL really happy with these! Till next entry, folks!
