Guess what? I got to build a Lego Star Wars UCS set! One of my favorite events I attended this year is the live build session hosted by the Lego Certified Store at Park Triangle BGC. Through PhLUG, I got to participate in this awesome event along with the masters of the Force Legion, PhLUG's Star Wars SIG. Let's get on with the show!
Introduced in the Empire Strikes Back, the snowspeeder is one of the many memorable and iconic vehicles from the Star Wars Universe. Driven by the brave pilots of the Rogue group, these agile hover crafts stood against the Empire's infamous AT-ATs in a David vs. Goliath battle across a vast snow field.
As expected, the kit's box is quite big since it has 13 bags inside. We immediately started building the snowspeeder. To keep things in order, we agreed to have a bag assigned to each of us. We also made sure everyone who's there gets a chance to participate in the build.
I'm used to building on my own so this was really a totally new experience for me. I realized it's actually more fun if you build sets with other folks. I find it interesting how people tend to have different styles of building sets. There are some who sort first while there are others who just look for the next piece that's up. Either way, the result is the same.
It's my first time to build a set this big and I'm really amazed at how everything fits perfectly. You could tell the designers really spend a great deal of their jobs trying not just to make everything look good, but to be really, really sturdy.
If I remember correctly, it took us around 5 to 7 hours to finish the snowspeeder. It really looks grand especially when it's on its stand.
By the way, the set also has a couple of cool minifigs! These random snowpeeder pilots have great details from head to toe. Good job, Lego!
The live build was a really grand experience for me! I can't help but feel a sense of pride every time I drop by the LCS and see the fruit of our labor displayed there. It's still there by the way! Many thanks to the cool folks at LCS Park Triangle and PhLUG for this cool activity! You made this AFOL really happy! :)
Thanks for reading another entry here at Nothing But Brick! Christmas is just around the corner and to celebrate the season's spirit, I'll be doing a giveaway. I'm already working on the mechanics and will be posting it real soon. You better get your minifigs ready! Till next entry, folks!
